Hey, hey, hey, happy Sunday everyone. Let’s talk about the number one thing you can do to raise your profile instantly. This strategy is absolutely insane, and I wish I knew it before, because it changed my life, it changed my business and that’s what I want to give to you today.
So good to see you, if you’re watching the replay right now, put #replay so that I know you are watching. And any question or comments, just pop the comments here in a comment box so then I can know what questions you have as well, I can answer your questions, and also I can be more interactive here. So it’s a great, great, great, this is the third day of our live series.
We did day one, talking about how to use awards to get on major publications. Day two, we were talking about actually how to use speaking to increase your profile and get in front of your target clients as well, and again, higher paying clients. And today I’m going to talk about the number one thing that you can do to raise your profile instantly. Because with all the different things that you can do to raise your profile, to become known, to become visible, and as well to attract the right people, there are things that are working more long-term, and there are things that are working short-term, like in anything, right?
And it’s important to balance the long-term strategy versus the short-term strategy. For example, going into small niche publications is a long-term strategy because it gives you, it might not give you the media like boosting, get in front of hundreds of thousands of millions of people, but what it will give you is the consistent on-going presence in front of your target audience that then will lead to a sale. So getting into smaller niche publications or podcasts is part of your long-term strategy, and it’s something that you should do consistently, and I’m going to talk about this strategy actually specifically tomorrow.
But there are some things for example that will give you like, a big boost of audiences, will get people engaged with you, they will get people to talk about you, like for example, what we talked on day one, which is getting and winning awards. Something that happens in a short space of time, there is a huge buzz around you, a huge buzz around you, a huge buzz around what you do, and then you gotta use that short-term buzz to leverage it for the long-term.
So today I’m going to talk about actually a short-term strategy, and the number one thing you can do is something that changed my life, changed my business completely, and is getting in front of influencers, and collaborating with influencers, and other authorities in your field. Now let me tell you why this is important and crucial for your business. There is something which is called the branding by association, which means that if there is someone in your industry which is here, and you’re here, by collaborating with them, you actually don’t get at their level , but you get there.
There is like a massive boost that you get and it’s something that you can leverage, not only for the short-term, but also for the long-term. Now what I’m talking about collaborating with influencers, I’m not talking about paying for a picture and say, “Hey, look at me, I know this person. “I took this picture with Tony Robbins, “now we’re best friends”. No, I’m not talking about that, that’s called being a fake, right? If you pay for a picture and then you say I’ve done this and that with that person, that’s called being a fake. And people are going to find out about you anyway, so don’t do that, that’s not what I’m advising, I know there are some people out there that say, “You know what, no matter where you are, “go and take the picture with the influencer”, right?
How grateful you are about collaborating with them and being in their presence. Yeah, there is a place for it, but people are not going to see you at their level because you’re not collaborating with them, you are paying them to take a picture, right? Anyone can pay someone to take a picture, but it takes something more to actually getting and creating a collaboration, or doing something together, it can be a small thing, or a big thing, and so that’s what I’m going to be talking about today.
How can you get in touch with influencers or other authorities in your field? How can you build your brand, and boost your brand and credibility, almost like, who is this guy, or this girl coming from nowhere, and now they are being, they are at their level? And if you do it consistently, then people are going to consistently associate you with other authorities, other celebrities, other influencers in their field, and automatically they will make the connection that you are an influencer.
Now, all this strategies I’m talking about today, let me remind you, they work if you have substance behind what you do, like if you give a great service, if you have a great product, if you care about the people that you’re serving, is not just something to use for your own ego and to feel good about yourself, all this strategies are, of course you feel good about yourself, is a good pat on the back, is a great milestone, but at the same time, you are there to serve your clients, so this is literally getting in front of more people and lower the resistance for someone to say, “I’m gonna buy from you, I want to collaborate with you”, that’s why all these strategies work.
So, how can you get in touch with influencers and other authorities? I’ll tell you something that is exactly what I did to do an event with Les Brown, and to collaborate in an event with Gary Vaynerchuk. And this is something that anyone can do, and it turns, you know, sometimes the universe turns out in magical ways. But this is how I happened, and I used the same strategy, first with Les Brown, and then applied it with Gary Vee as well. And I got in touch, I saw that there was an event with Les Brown, which is a person that I highly respect, is a person that changed my life, just through his YouTube videos, and who I really wanted to connect with.
And so there was, I saw advertised that there was an event with Les Brown in London, and I was like, “Wow, I’m super excited about this, “I really would love to be part of this event.” So I managed to see who was the event organiser, now if you to go an event page you will always see who is the organiser of that event. And so what I did, I contact the organiser, connected with her on Facebook, which is Althea Grant, and I said, “Hey Althea, I would love to support you, “if you need any help to, with the event with Les Brown, “just let me know, please.” And she contacted me back and said, “Yeah, I would love some help, let’s arrange a call”, and I was like, “Oh wow, that’s brilliant”. So in my mind I didn’t even think that speaking on that stage was gonna be possible.
I was at the very early stage of my career, it was five years, yeah, it was five years ago, I was 26, and I already run a more than, I think 300 events by that time because of with GTeX and all the speaking it I was doing, so I was confident that I could do a great job on stage, but I didn’t see myself yet as worthy, even to pitch to speak at an event. But what I said, I said, “Hey, I run this 300 plus events, “I know a thing or two about events. “If you need any help let me know.” So she contacted me and I was really excited, we jumped on the call.
And I realised that she had a lot on her plate, and so what I did to help her out, is to take things off her plate. And one of the things that I know being a trained professional MC, is that is very difficult for an event organiser to be an organiser, to be the MC and to be speaking on stage. And that’s where the kind of situation where she was in. She was speaking, she was organising the event and she was the main MC. So I told her, “Well, if you need any help, “I can help you co-host the event. “Something I’ve done many times “and I know I can be great at this, “and if you need any help, let me know.” And the conversation kind of died there, so I did my work, where I go into the team meeting, work out in the crew members, helping around with all the schedule, and the layout of the event, and then about five, six days before, I receive this call, and she was like, it wasn’t even Althea, it was her assistant, and she said, “Well, Simone here, “Althea would love to ask if you want to be the main MC “of the event with Les Brown.” I was like, “Well, what do you think?” I was like, “Um, let me think about it for a moment”, Woohoo! “Yes, of course”. And that’s how I ended up MCing that event with a thousand people on stage, and that was a huge push for GTeX.
That was a huge push for GTeX because it felt like in that moment, all that work that we did for the past three years, in the background, just running events, speaking at events with the one, two, three people, then finally was worth something, and we could actually push what we were doing out there. Of course I wasn’t there to promote GTeX or myself, but just being able to be associated with Les Brown, and be the main MC of the event, of an event with a thousand people, then it immediately give us a huge credibility boost.
Because in the industry, that’s what I’ve learned from my early mentors, is that you have two things, you have credibility and you have skills. And so first of all, you always need to have a more skills than credibility because what happens is that you have more credibility than skills, people are going to be disappointed about working with you. But a lot of times, we can have have a great skills and no credibility at all, and so a no profile at all, and so it’s about raising that profile so that it matches the skills that you have, and you can show that.
And I always had this at the back of my mind, was one of the biggest lessons that I had from this speaking training. So I said okay, I need to keep pushing, pushing, pushing, ’cause my skills are there right now, I needed my profile to be higher, to match, and to show the world that actually, I got those skills. And that’s what happened with the event with Les Brown, and immediately, literally from that year, we went from, I think it like 25,000 pounds that we made the year before, to 120,000 . Like literally we added 100,000 pounds and it was our first six-figure year. And it all happened from the leverage that we got from that incredible event.
But we were ready to capitalise on that, and this is the thing that when you are doing, when you are collaborating with an influencer, when you’re going and collaborating with the other authorities, you will always have this big push, but if you’ve not done the background work, and if your business is not ready, and you are not ready, then it will become just a moment, like a small flame and then it will die. While if you’re able then to have done the groundwork and you know now that with that push, with this influx of people, you’re ready now to handle your kind, you can do a great job with them, then there is nothing, there is absolutely nothing that can stop your growth. And so that’s what happened with Les Brown, and then I said, okay, well it worked with Les Brown, the year after I saw an event advertised with Gary Vee.
And it was Dan Meredith and Front Value that organised this event. And I saw that he was all over social media and everywhere, and I said, well, it worked for Les Brown, let me try to see if’s gonna work here. So I contacted Frank, which is one of the main organisers, and I asked him, “Hey, I did 300 events”, by now it had been like 400 events by that time, “And I also helped organise this event with Les Brown”, I added a big name I could leverage. And he said, “Yeah, I would love to have a talk, “please let me know.” And we realised that I actually that event, the organisation was not going to be enough to give people the experience that they wanted, so we really worked really hard, and we organised all the crew members, and arranged all the different layouts, the event, the schedule was already there, but we called all our clients, and then made sure that the event run like a clockwork.
There were other people that were flying in from The States, and they helping out as well, so it was an incredible team, but now guess what? We could leverage that fact that we organised this event with Gary Vaynerchuk. And the same happened, then they speaking with Dr John Demartini, Jairek Robbins, and many other influencers, being part of events with John C. Maxwell and so on. So, the reason why I’m saying this, it is because the underlying method to get in touch with influencers and authorities, and collaborate with them, even if you are noticed, someone you’ve just really known, if you’re not a celebrity yet, if you don’t have a huge following, and you don’t have that to give them, ’cause if you have 100,000 people following you, a million people following you, relationship is easy. It’s like, “Hey Toy Robbins”, “Hi Oprah, I got a million people following me, “can I interview so you get in front “of these million people”, they will be like, “Yes”. But if you’re like “Hey, I got 10 people following me, “and I would really love to interview you”, you can see there is not a fair exchange because you’re just leveraging them and they have nothing really to, you’re not really to give to them. But if you’re thinking about, okay, who is bringing them in? Because they might need help actually in organising that very thing, then now you’re getting one step closer. So that’s one of the things that I’m always looking at on collaborating with influencers, collaborating with the authorities.
Another thing I did, which is helped us get in Frank Kern on our podcast, and other major influencers on our podcast is actually to have a podcast . I know, I know, I know, I know, it’s absolute mental right? But if you are having and creating a platform where you’re interviewing other people and giving other people a place to shine, like a podcast, like interviews, like a magazine for example, then you’re now becoming the curator and you’re now giving people what they want the most in this industry, or in any business, which is an audience.
And so if you’re able to provide that audience for them, there is no way an influencer is gonna say, “No, I don’t wanna be part of it.” So there are many other ways, we talked all about all the other ways to connect with influencers, and actually how to get them on the podcast, how to collaborate with events in our profile builder programme, which is launching on the 5th November, really excited about this.
You can actually get into the waiting list, there is a link here in the comments, and in the description. So make sure that you get on the waiting list because if you want to get known, this is one of the strategies that we are talking about, collaborating with influencers and getting, and this doesn’t work just with people, because branding by association works with people but also with brands.
And in fact, if you make it a point to not only collaborate with the influencers, the number ones in your field, but also associating yourself with the most known brands, then again, people are going to be like, “Yeah, this person knows what they’re talking about”, and your credibility will match your skills. And that’s for example why we were able to literally, one year, to create a six figure recruitment company, which Ben runs as part of GTeX.
And he spent time connecting with The Adecco Group, and delivering training for The Adecco Group, which is the largest recruitment agency in the world. And so, when he went to other recruitment agencies, and say, “Hey, this is the work that I’ve done “for The Adecco Group”, guess what? The doors were open immediately, straight away, and I think in the first year we made about, like a 80,000, just coming from that part on the first year of business, of Ben going in on behalf of GTeX delivering the training and not anymore as a contractor. So you can see that how this dynamics works, and that’s what I want to help you with.
That’s one of the things that we’re going to be highly focused on on the profile builder programme, because it will not only be able to leverage of our introduction and connections, where we’ll introduce you to other influencers, other authorities in their space, but we will also help you and teach you all the different modalities in which you can leverage those relationships, and in particular, what to do after. Because as I said, if I had left there, for example, the gig with Les Brown, and say, “Yeah, I’ve Mced Les Brown “in front of 1,000 people, look at me how great I am”, without leveraging about what’s gonna happen next, then I would have left a 100 grand there.
And so everything that we are doing here in the profile builder is not just for the sake of being known. An article for the sake of writing an article and being published will not make a difference in your business, but a strategically placed article, written a strategic way, or a strategically connecting with a specific influencer to not only be able to access their audience, but also to create a collaboration and a friendship in something that can elevate your brand, that’s smart. And so the way we are working the profile builder is to look at where you are, where the business is going, so that we can align your PR efforts to actually the business growth.
And that’s what a lot of PR agency for example will not do, but I don’t come from a PR background, for me PR was a necessity to get known, because I was really good and no one knew me. And that pissed me off , and I wanted to people to know how great we were, the impact that we were making, and that’s how we were able to help more than 500 businesses to become profitable just the past year. So, we doubt getting out there consistently, this would not have happened, and the impact that we’d have made would have been little impact, not a huge impact like we did.
So, now we love to hear from you, let me know what you think about this topic, let me know actually what kind of brands or influencers do you want to be connected with. Let me know here in the comments, I would love to hear from you. In the meanwhile, tomorrow, we’re going to have another training, so pay attention ’cause I’m going to send an email and a message to announce the time of the training, you can attend live or you can catch the replay. But it’s gonna be the last live training of this training series and then on the 5th November, the open, the open, the doors will be open of the profile builder programme, so you can get known, get paid and make an impact. Thank you very much for watching, thank you very much for being with me today. I wish you a fantastic Sunday, and always remember that together, we grow exponentially. Ciao.
