Are you unsure of the importance of testimonials?
Are you worried about asking for testimonials?
Not sure of the format for testimonials?
Why are testimonials important for your business?
Check out the video, and if you like reading, you can find the main point in the post.
When you are searching for a product or service you are probably going to start by researching the types of products and services out there that are able to help you with what you need to achieve.
In doing this you will probably do a search online and will probably have a look at some websites that come up.
You may come across a site that is of a company that is not well known and doesn’t have any testimonials and then you come across a site that has a few testimonials from various people all of which love and recommend the company for what it has helped them achieve.
Which company are you more likely to invest your time and money with?
The one without any testimonials or the one with some complimentary testimonials that show that the company can help you achieve your goals?
Personally, I would go with the company that has the testimonials, wouldn’t you?
Testimonials help you get credibility for your business and give you the social proof that you need to help you build your business.
You can also share them on other social platforms as well as your website to help you in getting more clients and therefore help you grow your business.
This is important because it helps you gain status within the industry that you are in by building your company and your reputation.
This, in turn, may also help you when it comes to competing with other more established businesses.
Remember these testimonials are not written by you or your company, they are written by your clients and are a true reflection of how they feel about your services.
This then helps other prospective clients decipher if you are the right person for them to work with or not.
How do I get testimonials?
The best time to get a testimonial is directly after finishing with your client because the session and their breakthroughs are still extremely fresh in their mind.
They are therefore more likely to be accurate in what they say and possibly more enthusiastic as well.
The other reason for getting a testimonial straight after finishing your session with your client is because if it is left for a period of time after the session they will either forget to do it and you will have to keep chasing them for it or the enthusiasm may wear off due to their day to day activities which could reflect in the testimonial they give you.
What type of testimonial should you get?
There are three types of testimonials you could get.
The first one is just a written testimonial, the second is a written testimonial with a picture and the third is a video testimonial.
Out of the three, a video testimonial is by far the best as it is more personal and your prospective client will be able to relate to it better.
If, however, it is not possible for you to get a video testimonial the next best is a written testimonial with a picture because your prospective client can still relate to what the person is saying and can see who this person is.
Finally, a written testimonial on its own is good too.
It may not have as much impact as the other two ways of getting a testimonial but with having a few written testimonials from different people you are still more likely to get more clients than with not having any at all.
What is the format for getting a testimonial?
So you now know why it is a good idea to get a testimonial and how it can benefit your business let’s look at the format of a testimonial.
This can be the same for a written or video testimonial.
Once your client has said their name and what they do for a living you want them to briefly explain why they came to you, their reason is generally their pain point and this will be something you have helped them overcome.
Then ask them to share the results they have achieved whilst working with you and finally if they would recommend you to others.
This helps them give a clear and concise testimonial and it gives all your testimonials the same structure which looks more professional.
If your clients are struggling to remember these three questions and answer them without prompting then you can ask your client the questions to help guide them in what to say, similar to that of an interview.
By understanding how important testimonials are to your business and using this structure to get them from your clients you are helping yourself and your business to get as many testimonials as you can.
Even if you do not use them all in one go you still have some which you may decide to rotate or use at a later date.
You have done the hard work by helping them reach their goal so be confident in asking for the testimonial and let it work for you.
