Let me tell you what actually makes a webinar convert, because it is probably not what you are expecting.
Most people build their webinar backwards.
They start with the script. What am I going to say first, what am I going to say second, where does the pitch go.
Then they move on to structure. What goes in the introduction, what goes in the content, what goes in the call to action.
Look, all of that matters. I am not going to tell you it does not.
But it is not the secret ingredient.
Conversion happens through connection
People do not buy because your slides were perfect. They buy because they felt something when you were talking.
I have delivered over 2,000 presentations, and here is what I know for certain.
The script is a part of it, yes. You want a script that persuades, that gets people to think in a different way. That is real.
But the heart behind the script is what actually gets someone to reach for their card.
And I am sure you can think of a time when you sat through a presentation and the structure was perfect, the offer made sense on paper, and you still did not buy.
Something was missing.
That something was connection.
Here is where most speakers go wrong
They get so focused on hitting the structure that they forget the person delivering it.
I see this all the time with speakers who move into the webinar space.
They chase the perfect script, the perfect slide count, the perfect moment to make the offer. And somewhere in all of that, they disappear.
I get it. When you are new to selling from a presentation, the structure feels like the safe thing to hold onto.
But here is the thing. You are the magic ingredient. Not the template, not the framework, not the slide deck. You.
When you relax, when you are present, when you show up as who you actually are inside your own webinar, that is when people lean in and trust you enough to buy.
The client who breaks every webinar rule
One of my clients makes hundreds of thousands from webinars using 4 slides.
She hates slides. The more slides she has, the more out of flow she gets, and you can feel it when she is out of flow.
Now, there is a school of thought that says you need a new slide every two or three seconds, because every time you change the slide you reset the brain. And that is true, it does work like that, and for some presenters it works beautifully.
It just does not work for her.
She converts every single time anyway, because she says the same things everyone else says, but she says them in a way that is fully hers.
That is the whole point. She has merged the structure with herself, and when you get those two things working together, there is a power in that presentation which cannot be stopped.
What to do before your next webinar
Keep working on your structure. Just do not forget yourself inside it.
Build the script. Plan your introduction, your content, your call to action. If you want to sell, there are certain things you need to say, so say them.
Then ask yourself one question before you go live.
Am I being fully me in this?
If the answer is no, then fix the delivery, not just the words. Slow down where you naturally slow down. Cut the slide count if a busy deck pulls you out of flow. Play inside the structure instead of hiding behind it.
That is how you can increase your conversions while delivering a great experience.
